Home chevron_right Case Study

Introduction:

Fancy Bazar, the bustling trading hub of Northeast India, faced significant challenges in managing parking operations efficiently while ensuring accurate fee collection. With thousands of vehicles entering the area daily and millions of dollars' worth of materials being traded, the need for a robust and reliable fee collection system was paramount. By deploying a digital fee collection system, facilitated by Barrel Scope, GMDA (Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority) was able to curb cash leakage and gain valuable analytics.

Challenge:

Before the implementation of the digital fee collection system, Fancy Bazar Government Parking Lot relied on a manual, cash-based payment process. This approach was susceptible to cash leakage and posed challenges in accurately tracking and recording parking revenues. The sheer volume of vehicles entering the area daily, coupled with the fast-paced trading environment, made it difficult to ensure precise fee collection and maintain transparency.

Solution:

To address these challenges, GMDA floated a National Tender to identify a competent agency that would deploy necessary Hardware, Software and provide training to class IV government employees manning the parking lot. Barrel Scope won the prestigious contract and not only deployed an immediate digital system, but also undertook the task of improving skills of the parking lot attendants. The system was deployed in collaboration with Axis Bank and Stackfusion where each player provided their technical and process expertise.

Implementation:

The implementation process began with the installation of automated entry and exit gates equipped with smart sensors and license plate recognition cameras. Each vehicle's entry and exit were recorded, ensuring accurate fee calculation based on the duration of parking. A centralized management system was established, providing real-time insights and analytics on parking activities.

Digital Fee Collection:

Upon entry, drivers pass through seamlessly as the cameras and RFID readers identify the vehicle and create a digital timestamped ticket. At exit, the drivers are directed to the automated payment kiosks strategically placed within the parking lot. These kiosks offer multiple payment options, including digital wallets, QR Code, and mobile payment platforms, ensuring convenience for visitors. The system generated digital receipts, enhancing transparency and reducing the risk of fraudulent activities.

Analytics and Reporting:

The digital fee collection system provided Fancy Bazar Government Parking Lot with valuable analytics and reporting capabilities. The management team could access real-time data on parking occupancy, peak hours, revenue trends, and other key metrics. These insights facilitated data-driven decision-making, enabling the parking lot to optimize operations, allocate resources efficiently, and plan for future requirements.
